The Central Texas SPCA (Society for the Prevention of Cruelty to Animals) is a private non-euthanasia (no-kill), limited intake animal shelter. We provide shelter, food, medical care, and adoption services for homeless and abandoned dogs and cats. These services are funded solely by private donations and adoption fees. We receive no government funding and are not contracted as animal control with any local municipality or county. Formed by the merger of Humane Society of Williamson County and Centex Humane Society, more than 90% of the animals taken in by the shelter come from local Central Texas municipal shelters where they face the prospect of being killed for space.“Ninety-five percent of our animals come from municipal shelters and 65 percent of that comes from Bell County,” said Ron Maurollo, Texas Humane Heroes executive director. “When we merged with Central Texas Humane Society, we expanded our footprint because of the large number of strays. We save the animals from space-related killings.”
