One major reason is that it's a wild animal. The children's toys that teach the sounds of animals focus on domestic animals, mostly livestock. Pig, cow, sheep, rooster, duck, horse--these are farm animals, which, in America's collective agrarian past, were members of the household. You'll notice that on you won't see any of the most common North American wild animals--no raccoons, no coyotes, no deer, no robins, no hawks, and no foxes. What sound does the deer make? Hell if I know. Animal toys that move and make sounds - YouTube

Toys that make animal sounds are popular among parents because they are fun and there is a learning element involved. Hearing a cow moos or a lion roars after a button is pressed also exposes a toddler to the world of cause-and-effect. They are usually accompanied by upbeat melodies or ABCs too to help a toddler learn a few other things besides animal sounds alone. If your toddler is the more adventurous kind, a is also a good alternative. We love Fisher Price toys! See all of our Surprise videos

Our daughter is 3 years old and she has fallen in love with horses. It happened rather suddenly, but now she loves horses. When she saw the Fisher Price Little People Animals Sounds Farm Toy she instantly fell in love with the horse. While she is a little old for the playset, and she gets bored with it a little quickly, she does like pretending the horse (and sometimes the cow) escaped the farm and must be chased by the farmer.

Notes-

- Comes with a farmer cow, horse, and sheep - a chicken is included by he is attached to his nest up in the rafters of the barn

- Several areas on the barn making sounds - opening and closing the bar doors and on the landing of the silo.

- Perfectly designed for small hands - the openings and gates are difficult for adult hands to manipulate but much easier for kids.

- Turning the chicken makes a clicking (not a clucking) sound.

- A stable/pen can be attached to the side of the farm

- Batteries are included

- Very little assembly is required.

- Well constructed all the way around - including connecting the gates for the stable/pen - designed well for the rigors of a young child.

- Additional farm playsets can be purchased and added onto the farm.

Final verdict-The Little People Animal Sounds Farm is a great toy for toddlers, and an ok toy for preschoolers. The combination of farm/animal sounds along with a large barn playset will enjoyed by all kids - older kids may get bored after about 15 minutes, but it is perfect for toddlers and waddlers.
