In the past 3 years, Bissell introduced eight carpet-cleaning-solution formulas, while Rug Doctor introduced 18. Hoover says it revised its four carpet-cleaning solutions.
Remove the water tank from your Bissell carpet cleaner. If the water tank was installed improperly, the cleaning solution will not spray.

Why all of the changes? Manufacturers say the new carpet-cleaning formulas are meant to address specific issues, such as odors or pet stains better, as well as to reduce allergens. Eric Hansen, who is the chief chemist at Bissell, says the key is the variety of surfactants, which are detergents that loosen substances from carpet fibers. He says tens of thousands of surfactants exist, and each has different properties that make it effective at removing particular stains. (Other ingredients that are in carpet-cleaning solutions include additives that are designed to enhance the performance of the surfactants, such as pH-adjusting agents and dirt-suspension agents.) looking for the best carpet cleaner solution may want to consider the BISSELL 78H6B.

Check the water tank to make sure that it is full. You should fill the tank with clean water to the fill line before adding the solution prior to each use of your Bissell carpet cleaner. Thanks for the ratio on the water and vinegar. I have a Bissell as well and use the professional 2x deep cleaner that they sell. I noticed that withing a few months I had additional dirt clinging to the areas that I had cleaned with their shampoo. This morning I cleaned 1/2 of the house and my home is the same square footage as yours. I’m doing the remaining carpets tomorrow and will try your solution. I have two sons. They have friends. I need something that will really get out the dirt and stains.Extraction machines, like our two favorite cleaners from Bissell, rely on hot tap water, cleaning formula, and suction to lift stains. There’s usually no heating element or pressure mechanism involved. The machine sprays hot water-formula solution onto the stain, and the action of the scrubbing tool lifts the stain. The vacuum sucks up the loosened soil and liquid and deposits them in a separate “dirty tank.” These machines are designed for use on carpet and upholstery only. Because they don’t use scalding-hot water, you won’t risk burning yourself as you might with a steam cleaner.I’ve read through all the comments hoping there was an answer to my question, but I didn’t see one so I am very much hoping you still answer on this thread lol.
I rent, and the carpets are old and, for lack of a better word, nasty. They were stained when we moved in and life with two dogs and a baby (baby being more recent but no less destructive) has just made the carpets cringe worthy. We recently acquired a Bissel Pro Heat Pet, but the sprayer no longer works, my husband thinks the vinegar solution we put in it might have knocked some old calcium loose, so we just use a spray bottle.
Yesterday I was trying to clean the floors and I noticed a huge strip underneath a table that has totally gummed up. It’s not even really carpet any more, there are no individual fibers or loop-y things. So, my question, can I use the spot treatment but brush it in to loosen the carpet back into carpet? I got this great brush with my Pro Heat, I think it might work. Would you recommend it?
I hope to hear back soon as my floors are driving me crazy! My Bissell Proheat Pro-Tech carpet cleaner has a small SmartMix bottle for the cleaning solution and a separate Tank-in-Tank for the water. So, should I put straight vinegar in the SmartMix bottle or 50-50 vinegar/water. It will mix with the water in the Tank-in-Tank. Thanks! Bissell notes that the detergents that are in its carpet-cleaning solutions also are biodegradable, and it cites its partnership with Environmental Protection Agency’s Design for the Environment (DfE) program. The DfE designation, according to EPA, means that each ingredient that’s in a carpet-cleaning-solution formula poses “the least concern among chemicals in their class.” Bissell’s carpet-cleaning solutions are among 87 consumer products that are on the DfE list.
